| One of the single greatest causes of unhappiness, stress and disease, is that most people have not discovered and are not living, the gift that is theirs alone to give. The Gift they have to give. Questions like: Who am I? What am I here for? How can I be of service? are no longer the sole province of spiritual seekers. Many have not found satisfaction in the acquisition of power, fame and fortune, while "forever" institutions like marriage and a job for life are crumbling around us. Additionally, millions are asking why they should spend their lives doing something they don't love or pursuing goals that don't really nourish them. With people everywhere wondering how they can fulfill their highest potential, the need to discover the Prodigy Within Imagine if you knew your child were a Mozart, a Tiger Woods or a Van Gogh. How would you treat him? What kind of opportunities would you expose him to? How would you deal with his successes and failures? Would you go out of your way to supply him with music lessons, golf clubs, art supplies? What if it were up to you to parent these qualities in your self? How would you do that? The Prodigy within offers the answers to these questions, while debunking the myth that prodigies are always obvious from a very young age; that they are exceptional in one area of their lives but otherwise dysfunctional; that they are few and far between, idiosyncratic and ultimately, not you or I. The truth is that the majority of prodigies are actually the result of: a parent, mentor or even the Prodigy themselves, identifying their gift; creating an environment of unconditional support; defining their goal; and committing wholeheartedly to achieving it on their own terms. The Prodigy Within introduces the Seven Principles of Prodigy exhibited collectively by historical and contemporary prodigies. In the cases that the author has researched, from Michelangelo to Einstein, Mozart to Picasso, Thomas Jefferson to Tiger Woods, a very clear pattern has emerged, a pattern of circumstances, character traits and environmental conditions that the author believes to be even more important than genetics. Mozart's father was a great piano teacher; Tiger Woods parents exposed him to golf from infancy, while affording him every opportunity to play throughout childhood; Michael Jordan worked incessantly on his weaknesses; Gandhi, Edison and Lincoln's perseverance are legendary; Picasso, Beethoven and Da Vinci did it their own way. All of them believed their destiny to be unavoidable if they committed themselves to hard work, lifelong learning and consistent self-evaluation. The Prodigy Within is based on the premise that as we continue to grow and evolve, the subconscious that Freud postulated to be at the root of every decision we make, is steadily replaced by a life affirming presence, the Prodigy Within. Ultimately The Prodigy Within is an immersive, self-educational and transformative experience that results in each person: Identifying their area of Prodigy; Understanding how they've spent their entire life preparing to live it; and Believing, without a doubt, that manifesting the Prodigy Within, and fulfilling their destiny, is within their grasp. |
